More of the Same

midtown from library of congress Remember what the weather was like on Saturday and Sunday? Well, that's likely to be the weather through Wednesday. Warm, hazy and humid with a chance of afternoon and evening showers each day. The good news is a cold front should pass through on Wednesday night and the early indications are that we will have a sunny, dry end of the week and weekend.

Since it has been a cool summer so far –July was two degrees below normal and the temperature didn't reach 90 once— Gothamist will take this current warm spell to remind our readers of some tips to beat the heat. Drink plenty of fluids, especially water (alcohol and caffeine will dehydrate you); eat small, frequent meals; jump into the water at your favorite beach, pool, or bathtub; or ride the well air conditioned 2 train. If we get a heat wave it is good to check on your neighbors, especially if they are elderly. The New York City Office of Emergency Management has an excellent "Beat the Heat" brochure available on their website in six different languages.
