Storm Photo

A great photo from last night's storm from our friend Chris Burrows, (rotomonkey). Chris said that during the 15 second exposure there was actually only one occurance of lightning meaning this lightning discharge was severely forked. Just one of many from the evening's storm.

Given the humidity and unstable air, we could see more intense storms tonight as well, and throughout the week. Gothamist must remind you to be safe in a thunderstorm as lightning can be deadly. For now we will continue to let this week's weather art by Jennifer Eilertson distract us from the humidity and stick.

Great photo! I was watching the lightning for twenty minutes (around 11PMish), yelling "Oh my God" because sometimes the bolts were really thick - not skinny. It looks like NJ was getting hit, but that's just an optical illusion created by the skyline.

Nice shot rotomonkey. He never ceases to amaze.

that is such a fresh picture- i was hoping someone captured the storm, given that it kept me awake all night!

I totally slept through this. I didn't even hear anything and my window was open too. Great image.
