Hometown post-punk heroes Sonic Youth played a free show for approximately 7,000 fans in Battery Park on July 4th as part of the River to River Festival. Glenn Mercer was the frontman of a band called The Feelies that burst into the New York music scene in the 1970s. By the '80s their debut album, Crazy Rhythms, was voted one of the top 50 albums of the decade by Rolling Stone magazine. R.E.M., who they later toured with, cited the album as a major influence. By 1991 they disbanded, but Mercer continued making music on his own. Rumors of a reunion this......
