Diner Patron Threatens to Kill Server Over Subpar Food

Speaking of things waiters should "never" do, here's something a diner should never do: throw your food at the server and threaten to kill him or her. On Wednesday night one Steven Scott, 40, was arrested for assaulting a server at the New York Fried Chicken Diner on Fulton Street in East New York. Hapless waiter Baljit Singh says it all started when Scott came in at 11:30 p.m. and ordered mashed potatoes. After a couple bites, Scott "started griping about the nasty tasting food." So he was given a new serving of potatoes, but this didn't satisfy him either. Oh, no it did not.

UWS Couples Therapist Cuts Up Husband

A successful psychologist specializing in couples therapy faces felony assault and weapons-possession charges for slashing her husband with two kitchen knives on September 29th. Joyce Poster-Lederman, who practices on the Upper West Side and Riverdale, allegedly cut husband Selwyn Lederman, also a psychologist, during a domestic dispute in their West 84th Street apartment. Police sources say the marriage therapist got pissed during the argument and came at Lederman with a knife in each hand.

Street Food Vendor Slashed in Halal "Mafia" Hit

The turf war between between rival food vendors got bloody Wednesday when a halal chicken vendor allegedly cut his rival's arm on East 37th Street. We've previously heard about the feared "Halal Mafia" and wondered how far they'd go in defending their turf. All the way, it seems: Walid Osman, 32, says Halal chicken vendor Mohamed Hanafi threatened to kill him. The trouble started in August, when Osman, who'd previously peddled hot dogs, started selling chicken. When he refused to stop, Hanafi moved his cart right up in Osman's face, where he started selling chicken for half what Osman was charging. The tension finally boiled over Wednesday, when a Hanafi employee, Farajat Yehia, allegedly slashed Osman across the arm with a butcher knife. That employee and Hanafi's business partner were charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. But Hanafi tells the Post that Osman used to work for him and signed an agreement that he would never run a chicken cart. He also says Osman cut himself. Osman, who was treated at the scene, insists he signed the agreement under duress. He's vowed to return to his spot today and keep fucking with that chicken guy.

Cash, Pot, iPod, Slashing: Long Island Robbery Turns Violent

According to Newsday, "a robbery of cash and marijuana in Oceanside Friday developed into a melee involving four, police said, when the initial victim apparently tried to strike back by stealing an iPod." Seriously! Here's how it unraveled: Christopher Cagno, 20, allegedly demanded $160 cash and pot from Dylan Peitz, 18, on a street. Cagno managed to take the items and was fleeing in friend Christopher Haig's car—but the car was moving so slowly that "Peitz jumped partially through a window, grabbed Haig's iPod and tried to run." Naturally, Cagno and Haig chased Peitz and a fight broke out. Enter Peitz's girlfriend, Alyssa Reilly, 19, who introduced a knife and slashed at Cagno and Haig. All were arrested and charged with assault—Reilly faces additional charges of possession of a deadly weapon (the knife), Cagno has additional charges of robbery (the cash and pot) and drug possession (the pot) and Peitz has additional charges of petty larceny (the iPod theft) and possession of a deadly weapon (maybe the knife?). The four will be arraigned today in Hempstead.

Astor Trial Jury Forewoman Attacked On Subway

We knew that being on a jury for the Astor trial was hard work, considering that it's been going on for months (jury selection was back in March-April!!), there have been tons of witnesses (apparently 14,000 transcription pages worth) and Astor's son and co-defendant, Anthony Marshall, has had many health issues. But now we find out it can even be dangerous work: The jury's forewoman was headed home from court when she was attacked by a knife-wielding stranger on an uptown 4 train!

NYPD Investigator Stabbed to Death in Sunnyside Home

Horrible: A 24-year-old NYPD crime-lab worker was brutally murdered at some point over the weekend, her body found Monday morning tied to the bed in her Sunnyside apartment with a knife stuck in her neck. Last year Michelle Lee, originally of College Point, Queens, graduated with a forensic science degree from John Jay College, and began working for the police department. Her roommate, who also works in the crime lab, says she was out of town for the weekend, and when she returned on Sunday night, she assumed Lee was asleep in her bedroom. But investigators believe Lee may have been dead for days.

Police Fatally Shoot Knife-Wielding Woman

This morning, the police shot and killed a woman threatening them with a knife in Brooklyn. WCBS 2 reports, "According to police, the woman attacked the officer on Remsen Avenue just after 7:15 a.m... The woman reportedly slashed the officer in the hands. Police were forced to open fire, fatally striking the woman." The police officer, who had deep lacerations, is in stable condition. Last fall, when a police officer fatally shot a chair-wielding man, the NYPD found it fell within department guidelines (a spokeperson said, "Basically, was there an imminent threat to life or serious injury? That is the defining statement").

Road Rage Fight With Sushi Chef Gives Man a Slashed Face

A road rage incident on Staten Island Wednesday left a Brooklyn man with cuts on his face requiring 100 stitches—which is what happens when you get in a fight with a sushi chef. 23-year-old Jack Zaiback says he cut off Yao Zhou, 37, on the West Shore Expressway, and then pulled over because he thought he may have hit Zhou's van. In the ensuing fight, Zhou went to work on Zaiback's face with a 12-inch sushi knife, SI Live reports.

Knife-Wielding Attacker Stabs Three People

Yesterday morning, three people were stabbed by a man wielding a large knife in Flushing, Queens. Two of the victims were a couple in their 70s who were attacked outside their apartment building. Police arrested David E. Williams—aka "Big Dave"—and charged him with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The Post has the latest "oh sweet Christ, what the hell is this thing in my food!?" story, and this one’s a keeper: 27-year-old John Agnesini plans to sue Subway after he found a large serrated knife baked into the bread of his 12-inch cold-cut sub. Agnesini bought it from a Subway on West 35th Street last month during his lunch break:

After taking a few bites I could tell something didn't taste right. Then I felt something hard on the bottom of the bread. I turned it over and could see the knife baked inside. It's shocking. You see this metal knife. I mean, it's one thing seeing a hair or something. If I didn't look at it, could you imagine what would happen? I could've slashed the side of my mouth.”
That’s what his lawyer’s talking about! As if paying homage to Kramer’s lawyer Jackie Chiles, Agnesini’s attorney Yetta Kurland tells the Post, “It is outrageous that someone would have to worry about swallowing a metal knife and it is unthinkable that Subway, which makes fortunes off its campaign of 'Eat fresh,' would allow something like this to happen.”

The police arrested an ex-con with a history of stabbing-while-biking in the weekend stabbing of a Queens woman walking in Long Island City. Police say Eli Granger stabbed a woman in the chest while riding on his bike. A tip to Crimestoppers led the police to Granger's home at a Greenpoint "flophouse."

A woman was stabbed in the chest yesterday morning by a man on a bicycle. The woman, 37-year-old Eduarda Olivia, had been walking in the Queensbridge section with her 13-year-old daughter when the sudden attack occurred. She was taken to NY-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell, where she is currently in stable condition.

Earlier in the week, unconfirmed reports of a knife-wielding assailant had Williamsburg residents on edge; South Williamsburg in particular has been flooded with patrolmen all week, and we’ve heard from readers who say they’ve been written summons for minor offenses like jaywalking.

A psychologist was slashed to death in her office building at 79th Street and York last night. Another therapist was seriously injured; the suspect is still at large.

As the police try to reconstruct the events of Thursday night's mugging attack, a little more information is offered about some of those involved. Subway conductor Maurice Parks was walking home when he was attacked by a group of muggers in Harlem, at West 139th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue late Thursday night. When stabbed, Parks took out his own knife to defend himself. By the end, the police arrested a wounded attacker and another teen attacker, and found that a man who died in the clash was actually a bystander.

An argument between two men on a Manhattan bus this morning ended in a homicide, as one man stabbed the other to death. The incident occurred at 9:40 a.m. on the M101 bus that runs northbound on 3rd Avenue. A 52-year-old man was arguing with a 40-year-old man, when the bus stopped at 96th St. on the Upper East Side and the older man stabbed the younger in the leg. The victim was taken to Metropolitan Hospital where he died from his wounds.

Yesterday, a woman was found shot to death, clutching a knife in her hands. It turns out that 23-year-old Shauna Sanders was killed on Jordan Avenue in St. Albans after fighting with a date about her cell phone. According to the Daily News, Sanders and her cousin met two men at a bar and went home with them Friday night. On Saturday morning around 6:30AM, apparently Sanders and her date, Donnell Dunson, got into an...
