Drama rocked the tabloid news website Gawker last week when half the editorial staff abruptly resigned. The news came to readers through an initially unassuming post on the website by editor Emily Gould, who addressed at length an essay about Gawker in the new issue of literary magazine n + 1 before divulging news of her departure, along with managing editor Choire Sicha. (It was later learned that a third editor, Joshua Stein, had also......

When asked in 2005 what train wreck of a celebrity she would give some advice to, then-Gawker editor Jessica Coen said, "Lindsay Lohan, may God help you secure a room at Promises." Lohan ended up going to Wonderland for rehab, and apparently it didn't work any wonders on her. Adding to the list of Long Islanders giving New Yorkers a bad name is the one and only La Lohan. Recently in town for the......

Ex-Gawker editor Jesse Oxfeld joins New York just in time for the magazine's big story on where celebs are in the city! Well, he's only quoted (as is current Gawker editor Jessica Coen), but given that yesterday's Post went ga-ga over Brooklyn celebs and where you might see them, forget the locusts, it's the day of the celebs. For the record, Gothamist's favorite star-sighting is not seeing Harrison Ford (with, ugh, that earring!) have dinner......

New York Magazine has not one, but five separate articles on bloggers in this week's issue. Some priceless quotes: "The upshot? Nick Denton’s revenues from Gawker were probably at least $1 million a year and might well be cracking $2 million. Not bad, considering the blog had no serious expenses other than its writers—first Spiers and now Jessica Coen and Jesse Oxfeld, all working for journalist wages—and Webhosting fees of maybe a few thousand......

Animal Magazine's 6th Issue comes out this week-- and Bucky was nice enough to messenger us over a copy, since we unfortunately missed Animal's "Save Krucoff" themed party at BLVD on Wednesday night. The magazine is beatuiful and glossy and filled with pictures of scantily clad girls-- but we were interested in one feature in particular: a series of interviews with some of our NYC blog colleagues. Our favorite quotes: Joey Arak (Curbed): "People......

It's New York magazine's 2005 Salary Survey, and the lesson is clearly: The city is full of rich people who are not you. In our highly unscientific early-morning survey of a few pages of the survey, it seems that well over half of the incomes are over $1 million. According to the U.S. Census, only 3% of New York City households have an income of over $250,000. Overlaying that with the number of households in......

We don't often talk about readings on this site because, well, readings are generally kind of boring. Seriously, you can comment all you want about how they're not but we probably won't even read your comments because comments about readings are even more boring. Enter super fast reading series. We're pretty sure the last Ritalin Reading was last June, so we'll give you a refresher. 6 readers, 4 minute readings, 24 minutes of your time......

Be warned, anyone who works in media or anyone who knows anyone who works in media or anyone who knows anyone who consumes media. Apparently, a line in the sand has been drawn between blogs that cover NY media - a line in the sand, people! Or at least that's what an article in the NY Times City section suggests. The facts: In one snarky corner, there's Gawker with snarky publisher Nick Denton and snarky......
