Teen Pulls BB Gun On Cops, Gets Shot In The Face

A Bronx cop shot a teenager in the face after the adolescent reached for a BB gun on Holland Avenue yesterday afternoon. A plainclothes narcotics detective fired on 15-year-old Marcus Bonner at around 5 pm, hitting the aspiring rapper in the cheek after he made a move for the authentic-looking gun. "He makes like he's putting his hands up to surrender," a police source told the Daily News. "It's a fake surrender and he reaches for his gun."

Diner Patron Threatens to Kill Server Over Subpar Food

Speaking of things waiters should "never" do, here's something a diner should never do: throw your food at the server and threaten to kill him or her. On Wednesday night one Steven Scott, 40, was arrested for assaulting a server at the New York Fried Chicken Diner on Fulton Street in East New York. Hapless waiter Baljit Singh says it all started when Scott came in at 11:30 p.m. and ordered mashed potatoes. After a couple bites, Scott "started griping about the nasty tasting food." So he was given a new serving of potatoes, but this didn't satisfy him either. Oh, no it did not.

Video: Fearless Gas Station Clerk Grabs Shotgun From Robber

This video is the greatest demonstration of someone "flipping it" on an adversary that we've seen in some time. Long Island convenience store and gas-station clerk Mustapha Yakupoglu was closing up at midnight Wednesday night when two masked men burst in and pointed a shotgun at his neck, demanding money. But Yakupoglu, who's been robbed twice before, wasn't having it. Check out this deft maneuver, caught by a surveillance camera:

Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty

About a year ago rapper Lil Wayne was in Manhattan court claiming his tour bus was totally pot free after he performed at the Beacon Theater... a venue where surely the Allman Brothers have smoked a little grass on occasion. Anyway, the rapper allegedly tossed a Louis Vuitton bag with a gun inside when the NYPD approached the bus, which got him charged with "attempted weapon possession."

Teen Sues City, Says Cops Called Him Plaxico After Shooting

A Manhattan teenager with no criminal record is suing the city for $1 million because cops arrested and taunted him as "Plaxico Burress" after he got shot in a robbery. Christian Dudley doesn't even own a gun, but that didn't matter to the officers who collared him after the Harlem mugging earlier this year. He was arrested in a Washington Heights hospital where he was waiting to get the bullet removed from the back of his knee—instead of surgery, he got dragged to the precinct on a charge of criminal possession of a weapon. And that's where the fun really started.

Witnesses Dispute Off-Duty Cop's Account of LIRR Gun Incident

Passengers and LIRR employees are painting a much different picture of Sunday night's arrest of an off-duty NYPD officer who pointed his gun at rowdy Rangers fans. You'll recall that Officer David Hendrick, a 16-year veteran, gave a television interview Monday night insisting that he pulled his weapon in self-defense after the hockey fans reacted violently to his attempts to shush them. But court papers obtained by Newsday tell a different story.

Off-Duty Cop Flashes Piece To Shush Rowdy Rangers Fans On LIRR

An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested Sunday night after waving his gun at a group of rowdy, belligerent Rangers fans. For some reason, that's a crime, and Officer David Hendrick, a 16-year veteran assigned to the Manhattan Task Force, faces a felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon and a lesser charge of menacing. MTA cops stopped the Ronkonkoma-bound train in Mineola after several frightened passengers called 911 to report that a man had brandished a gun.

Teen Shoots Himself in Penis

A 15-year-old Brooklyn boy was arrested yesterday after accidentally shooting himself in the penis. The Post's stupid headline is, "So much for packing a, um, rod," and there are going to be plenty of bad jokes about going off half-cocked in the comments, but we can't help but pity the kid. Khamir Grant told cops he was walking home from Amersfort Park in East Flatbush around 1:30 a.m. Sunday with a gun in his waistband when the piece began to slip into his pants. When Grant grabbed for it, he accidentally pulled the trigger, firing a bullet "right through his penis," in the Post's words. Grant staggered home, told his mother what happened, and they took a livery car to Kings County Hospital, where Grant was released after treatment and then arrested. He's charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon—the same charges levied against Plaxico Burress, who last year shot himself in a nightclub under similar circumstances, albeit with less catastrophic results.

Bloomberg Wants to Take Your Guns When You're Drunk

It's already illegal to drink in public, smoke in bars, and eat Jalapeno poppers without knowing how many calories you're consuming, and now Nanny Bloomberg wants to make it illegal to pack a piece while drunk. The mayor is proposing a local law that could put sodden gun holders behind bars for up to one year, and fine them up to $10,000. According to WNYC, nineteen states already have laws prohibiting gun possession by intoxicated individuals, and some states go so far as to revoke gun permits from people with drinking problems. But after all that, is there even anyone left who can legally carry a gun? Earlier this year the New York State Assembly floated a bill that would suspend or revoke the firearm license of anyone in possession while drunk; Bloomberg's proposal would use the same definition of intoxicated as the legal limit for driving. The Mayor says, "If you are in a bar and you see somebody intoxicated and think they might have a gun I know what I would do, I'd either leave that bar or call the cops. I don't want to get shot."

Plaxico Burress Says Club Knew He Had Gun

Tonight, on ESPN's 7 p.m. E60 program, former Giants star Plaxico Burress talks publicly about his decision to take a plea deal after accidentally shooting himself in the leg with an unregistered gun at a Manhattan nightclub last November. The deal will send him to prison for two years. Burress says that the security at Midtown's Latin Quarter nightclub knew he was carrying a gun but waved in him in anyway, "It wasn't like I was trying to hide it." He also says, "Like I said, I got myself into a situation and, you know, I gotta deal with the consequences for it."

Gun Necklace Airbrushed Out of Politician's Family Photo

The 14-year-old daughter of City Councilman Bill de Blasio is featured in a nice family photo on the website for de Blasio's public advocate campaign. But don't let her innocent smile fool you—teenage Chiara loves guns, and de Blasio doesn't want voters to know about it. It's been revealed that in the original photo, Chiara was wearing a gun-shaped pendant, which was subsequently airbrushed away when the photo was pimped out for campaign literature. When confronted about the cover-up by the Daily News, de Blasio explained, "Our daughter made a mistake in putting on a necklace that was inappropriate. I made a decision to take it out of any literature and she will not be wearing it in the future." But Larry Sabato of the University of Virginia's Center for Politics is troubled, because who knows what else de Blasio is hiding? Are those even his children? Still, Sabat gives Chiara a pass on her gun fetish, because "you never blame a 14-year-old—they all do silly, rebellious things, and I guess that's what it was. She's 14. Who cares?" Well, easy for him to say; he doesn't have to generate news content in August.

Plaxico Burress To Testify In Front of Grand Jury Tomorrow

Eight months after accidentally shooting himself in the leg (with his own gun) at a Manhattan nightclub, Plaxico Burress is going to testify in front of a grand jury tomorrow. According to the Post, his "attorney, Ben Brafman, hopes that his client can convince the grand jury assembled in Manhattan Supreme Court to forgo an indictment." Brafman said, "Mr. Burress is going to ... tell the truth about what happened that night... He's [also] going to ask [the grand jury] to believe that this unfortunate incident should not be used to ruin his life." The Manhattan DA's office, which wants the former Giants player in to go to jail, is also going to seek charges against Burress's teammate Antonio Pierce, because Pierce took Burress's unlicensed gun back to Burress's NJ home. Giants co-owner John Mara called charges against Pierce "unwarranted."

Bloomberg Also Hates Proposed Concealed Gun Amendment

To no one's surprise, Mayor Bloomberg, who is also founder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, is criticizing the proposed amendment that would allow people with guns registered in states that allow concealed weapons to keep their guns concealed when in NY State. PolitickerNY reports that Bloomberg called the amendment, offered by Sen. John Thune (R-South Dakota), "a terrible piece of legislation": The mayor "said that there had been no public hearings on the amendment, and said it was being attached to a military spending bill, providing senators an excuse to vote for it. Bloomberg said if the amendment stood alone, it would not pass, and that 'the hypocrisy of tying it to the safety our young men and women who are overseas is just so outrageous.'" Mayors Against Illegal Guns also ran an ad in USA Today against the amendment today.

Gun Pulled On Campaign Worker Gathering Signatures

A campaign worker for a City Council candidate says someone driving an SUV "adorned" with posters for his boss's rival threatened him at gunpoint yesterday in Brooklyn. 20-year-old James Soyers was collecting signatures for candidate Anthony Herbert in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 4 p.m. yesterday when he says the vehicle hurtled toward him and his co-worker and "scared the pants off" him. The driver allegedly told the men to leave, and when they refused, he brandished a chrome gun with a black handle. Soyers tells the Times, "I was stuck frozen. My feet didn’t agree with my brain. My brain was telling them to run, but my feet just wouldn’t move." Oddly enough, Herbert's rival, Councilwoman Darlene Mealy, was at an event just half a block away. She denies that the gunslinger works for her, but Herbert says other candidates viying for Mealy's seat are "having trouble collecting signatures" to get on the ballot in the Democratic primary. He also adds that Mealy is "not the friendliest person."

Ex-Cop Blames Storming School With Gun On PTSD

Last week, a retired NYPD cop was arrested for taking the Orangetown Superintendent hostage while wielding a gun. According to the Mid-Hudson News, Peter Cocker, 36, had "forced his way into Mitchell’s office. During a violent struggle, Mitchell wrestled the gun away and held cocker down on the floor." Apparently Cocker was upset by Mitchell's letter about the school's swine flu policy, which explained that though there were growing absences, the school would remain open per the county Health Department's advice. It later turned out that Cocker's gun was unloaded, but the district attorney said, "The assumption was that it was loaded, which could have led to a lot of injuries. ... So the seriousness is the same and the law treats it almost the same." Cocker pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, burglary, coercion and gun crimes; his lawyer said that his client has post-traumatic stress disorder, due to being involved in a shootout and spending a week "separating body parts" after the September 11 attacks.

Sources: Initial Test Links Suspect's Gun To Craiglist Murder

The Boston Globe reports that preliminary tests link the gun found in Philip Markoff's apartment (inside a hollowed-out copy of Gray's Anatomy) with the murder of Julissa Brisman. "Officials also told the Globe that fingerprints found on the plastic restraints and duct tape left at a crime scene matched Markoff's fingerprints." Brisman, a NYC resident, was killed by her apparent massage client at a Boston hotel last week and police arrested Markoff, a 23-year-old medical student, on Monday. Markoff was reportedly placed on suicide watch yesterday after guards found shoelace marks on his neck. His lawyer didn't confirm or dany the alleged suicide attempt but did say, "It's difficult for anybody to go from a life of freedom to being detained, particularly in the first few days."

Pistol-Packing Granny Sued Over Shooting

Back in 2006, 56-year-old Margaret Johnson, who uses a motorized scooter because of a dislocated hip and herniated disk, was choked on Lenox Avenue in Harlem by Devon Johnson (no relation), a man arrested 9 times for robbery. But because she was on her way to the shooting range for a little target practice, she had her .357 magnum all lit to pop, and shot Johnson in the arm. Cops followed a trail of blood to his apartment and arrested him, but he beat the charge by claiming that Johnson shot him because he kicked her Shih Tzu after it attacked him. (For reference, here is a photo of the vicious Shih Tzu breed.)

Gillibrand's Rifles Are No Longer Under Her Bed

After Senator Kirsten Gillibrand told Newsday that she and her husband keep two rifles under their bed in their upstate home, the newly appointed Senator has decided to move the rifles. Her spokesman Matt Canter told Newsday, "Given that the location of the guns has been disclosed, they have been moved for security reasons."

Gillibrand Tells Newsday She Keeps Rifles Under The Bed

Oh, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. One moment, you're saying you need shooting lessons from Mayor Bloomberg. The next you're telling Newsday that you and your husband keep two rifles in your bed. Gillibrand said to Newsday, "If I want to protect my family, if I want to have a weapon in the home, that should be my right."

Armed Brooklyn Teen Shot in Face By Rookie Cop

An unidentified rookie NYPD officer shot 18-year-old Akeem Harvey in the face yesterday after the teen ran from officers during a "stop and frisk" outside a corner store in Brownsville. Police sources tell the Daily News that Harvey "acted nervous and kept adjusting his waistband" when police approached him at approximately 2:30 p.m. near Winthrop Avenue and East 93rd Street. Harvey then bolted and started running toward his home, but the police say he "fumbled" and dropped his .357-magnum revolver (pictured, via MyFox NY).

Did Diddy Bring the Heat to Birthday Party?

Following Monday night's Knicks game, Sean Combs was set to co-host a party with Kobe Bryant in honor of someone named DJ Clue's birthday...but Diddy never entered the club (M2 on West 28th Street). The NY Post reports that the rapper/entrepreneur/Vodka salesman wasn't a no-show, he was simply scared off by the NYPD's undercover gun detail set up to search every guest (those guys are always a buzz kill). They report that "a witness said he 'flipped out' when cops asked to search him and his friends." After one member of his entourage ducked back to the car, Diddy and the others "stormed off" and decided not to attend. Not suspicious at all! Especially when you already have a history of maybe opening fire in a club.

After cops from NJ and NYC raided the NJ home of Giants star Plaxico Burress and found two guns and ammo, his lawyer doesn't think his client will face more charges. Attorney Benjamin Brafman said, "We believe the paperwork will check out and show any weapons were lawfully purchased by Mr. Burress and lawfully registered," but the Daily News reports that "investigators found gun licenses at the home, but have not been able to match them to the seized weapons." If Burress is arrested in NJ for illegal gun charges, his bail from the "accidental shooting at a Manhattan club" incident could be revoked.

Plaxico Burress is at Giants Stadium to meet with team officials for the first time since he accidentally shot himself in the thigh. And the NYPD is investigating why NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, which treated the Giants star, did not report the shooting to the police. According to the NY Times, state law requires hospitals or doctors to contact the authorities "at once."

This morning, Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress turned himself in at the 17th Precinct, two days after, reportedly, accidentally shooting himself in the thigh while at the LQ nightclub in Midtown. The Daily News reports Burress walked "with no sign of a limp from the bullet wound."

Lil Wayne was in Manhattan court yesterday trying to prove his tour bus is pot-free. Too bad his star witness was...his "assistant" and pot dealer! The NY Post reports that "testifying at a suppression hearing for Lil Wayne's Manhattan gun-possession case, Terry Bourgeois told the judge that nobody was smoking pot on the 30-foot tour bus when it was pulled over one night last summer near Columbus Circle" after a Beacon Theater concert. Bourgeois did admit that there was some partying on the way to the venue, and that he "probably brought it on." He also noted that the cops could likely smell the remnants of it later, but he couldn't because "I'm a smoker. I'm used to it." As for the firearm, he claims to have never seen Wayne with a gun. If convicted, he could go to jail for over 3 years. Get your "Free Weezy!" signs ready, folks.

An Army soldier was arrested at MacArthur airport on Long Island Saturday morning after she tried to bring a loaded revolver on a flight to San Antonio, Texas. The piece was not Army issue and 38-year-old Spc. Vonda Collier, who has been stationed for the past year at Camp Liberty near Baghdad, did not have a New York license to carry it. She was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon after it was found during a routine baggage check. Collier is on bereavement leave to attend her mother's funeral in Texas; police say she was visiting relatives on Long Island but her father tells Newsday she has no family here. And last Thursday a man was arrested at MacArthur for trying to bring a pipe bomb on the plane home to Vegas. He says he just wanted to "cause a giant smoke cloud, a flash of light and hopefully a loud noise."

Even though around 200 people attended the Brooklyn barbecue where one person was killed and four people were injured in gun fire, the Post reports there has been little or no cooperation from witnesses. More chillingly, it's suggested that the fatality, 21-year-old college student Zeanie White, may have been used as a "human shield" by another shooting victim who may have been the real target. Police are offering $12,000 for information leading to an arrest and successful conviction; they urge people to call Crimestoppers at 800-577-TIPS.

Three people were shot last night around East 94th Street and Church in Brooklyn. A car is also full of bullets. WABC 7 reports that while the "conditions of the victims are unknown," one victim may have been shot in the head, another was shot in the arm, and a third victim was able to drive to the hospital. Police are investigating.

An off-duty corrections officer was reportedly shot four times in what WABC 7 calls "an apparent gunfight with several men." The officer had been walking home around 1:45 a.m. and the shooting occurred at 1791 Walton, at East 175th Street.
