Unless the Yankees turn things around, this summer's All-Star Game and the surrounding festivities will be the last time the current Yankee Stadium enjoys a national stage. If Major League Baseball has its way, one of the lasting images could be David Ortiz's attempt to hit a home run where a fan said the Red Sox slugger would. The event is inspired by Babe Ruth's alleged called shot, which may or may not have happened......

The Yankees donated the jersey for the Jimmy Fund to auction off and raise money for cancer care and research at Dana Farber. A Dana-Farber spokesman......

In spite of threats from the Yankees front office, the Bronx DA's office won't prosecute the construction worker who buried a Red Sox jersey in the new Yankee Stadium. A spokesman for DA Robert Johnson said, "It's unlikely, given our limited resources, we would use them for something of this nature." But don't worry--the Yankees may file a civil suit against Gino Castignoli, an avowed Red Sox fan who really hates Jorge Posada. We bet......

Above image from WABC 7, below images from WNBC 4 Leaving no potential curse to chance, the Yankees had the Red Sox jersey (allegedly) buried in cement at the new Yankee Stadium removed with great fanfare in front of press yesterday. The David Ortiz jersey, buried by a Yankee-hating construction worker, was found thanks to a $50,000 excavation in the future behind-home-plate restaurant. Yankees President Randy Levine said the team was initially going to......

The Bronx-born Yankee-hating and Red Sox-loving construction worker who buried a Red Sox jersey in the new Yankee Stadium has given photographic evidence to the Post proving it's no tall tale. "Gino" explained, "As I stuck it in, I said, 'The Yankees are done for the next 30 years.' I only put a 30-year curse because I'm 46 and in 30 years I'll be dead, and I won't care if the Yankees win then."......

In news that isn't coming as a surprise to anyone, Alex Rodriguez, the former and probably future Yankees 3rd baseman, was named the American League Most Valuable Player today. It was the third time Rodriguez was named the MVP, winning previously in 2003 with the Rangers and in 2005 with the Yankees. This past season, A-Rod set career high marks in runs scored (143) and RBI (156). He also led baseball with 54 home runs......

There was a fuss - and VitaminWater truck - at the FDNY's Ladder 20 Engine 13 firehouse on Lafayette Street. With good reason: Mets third baseman David Wright was filming a commercial for vitaminwater. Wright, New York's hottie come lately athlete, plays a vitaminwater delivery man - see how his uniform says "David"? Firefighters were taking photographs with their cellphones and Wright seemed to be having a good time. We just hope he's well-rested......

Holy Cow! We actually didn't even know that VitaminWater was made in Queens until Coca-Cola decided to buy the company for $4 billion. The Queens-based owners weren't the only people getting a fat pay-out from the purchase. David Wright, the Mets third baseman who endorses the product, accepted a small slice of equity in the company in lieu of payment last year. Now Wright's small stake in the company is worth $20 million.Days after inking......

Yankees 6, Red Sox 2: Chien-Ming Wang didn't have his best stuff, but he still held himself together long enough for the Yankees to take the opener of this critical three-game series at Yankee Stadium. Alex Rodriguez homered for the third straight game, and the Yankees are back within single digits of the Red Sox in the American League East after winning their second straight game. Jason Giambi also hit a long blast. The offense......

Devils 3, Senators 2 (2OT): Things appeared to be going according to plan for the Devils. They jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in a game they needed to avoid an 0-2 deficit in the Eastern Conference semifinals. That plan got broken when Dany Heatley tied the game with 26.4 seconds left. The first overtime was ripe with chances -- tired skaters lead to open shots -- but the Devils needed to the......

Derek Jeter didn’t win the MVP award yesterday. That isn’t a huge surprise because there was another worthy candidate, David Ortiz. The problem is, he didn’t win it either, Justin Morneau did and once again the baseball writers have messed up. They do this a lot. Pedro Martinez didn’t get the MVP award once because some writers didn’t include him on their ballots since they felt pitchers shouldn’t be able to win the MVP. Same......

The Yankees acquired Mike Myers to get out lefty batters. He has made a career of doing that and through twenty-three games had not allowed a run this season. Unfortunately, he had not faced the best lefty in the American League and when he did, David Ortiz hit a three-run homer to propel Boston to a 7-3 victory. The game started with Johnny Damon receiving a rude reception from the Fenway faithful. Damon seemed confused......

No Championship? No problem! Yankees fans can say they have the MVP on their team. Alex Rodriguez won the American League Most Valuable Player award yesterday over David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox yesterday in a vote that not only pitted a the Yankees against the Red Sox, but a position player against a full time designated hitter. Rodriguez received 331 total points to Ortiz's 307. The two players received 16 and 11 1st......

...It just lays down and loses four straight games to its biggest rivals. In the span of four days, the Yankees managed to lose four games to become the first team in baseball post season history to be up three games to none and lose a seven game series. Gotta give credit where credit is due, the Red Sox have guts and they pulled off a miraculous series of wins. The biggest comeback and......

So much for going to bed early. Sixteen hours after the end of their last game, the Yankees and Red Sox met up again for game 5 of the AL Championship Series and for the second night in a row, it went to extra innings. Last night, however, the game ran into the 14th inning and was the longest game time-wise in postseason baseball history at 5 hours 49 minutes. Like game 4, game......

It was bound to happen, no? After the trouncing they received on Saturday night, it's a wonder that the Red Sox could even win a game in the AL Championship Series, but that's what they managed to do last night in 12 innings. The Sox won last night, or this morning, on a game winning two-run homer by David Ortiz off of Paul Quantrill. The game finally ended at 1:23, more than five hours after......

The Yankees came into this past weekend's series with the Red Sox with more than a few questions in their rotation and the Red Sox arrived in the Bronx on a hot streak and only 3 1/2 games behind the Bombers. With this series now over, the Yankees picked up a game to up their AL East lead to 4.5 with two weeks left in the regular season and some confidence in their starters. Game......

It was a game in July, but it felt like the middle of October. It is a game that you are going to have to watch to believe. It was a game that was for the ages. Last night's Yankees Victory over the Red Sox, more than just the completion of a sweep, it was a statement. The Yankees came into the series with a five and a half game lead over the Red Sox,......

With the help of three errors by the Red Sox, the "Evil Empire" vanquished their most hated rivals last night, 11-3 (box score). The Yankees may not have needed the unearned runs because since the Yankees were swept by the Sox in April, things have turned around and the pecking order atop in the AL East has been restored. Since the series in April, the Yankees have a 40-15 record and an 11 game swing......

Yesterday, the Yankees finally beat the Red Sox at Fenway, taking the 3rd game of the four game series, 7-3 (box score). Paul Quantrill got the win, after bailing out starter Jose Contreras in the third inning. A well rested Derek Lowe got the loss, giving up seven runs in 2 2/3 innings. Despite the victory, one has to wonder if it was the Yankees that performed well, or if it was the pitching......
