Yesterday, Gothamist attended the 34th annual Atlantic Antic along Atlantic Avenue between Hicks Street and Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn. For the uninitiated, this not your typical New York "tube sock" street fair. Sure there are some of the typical food vendors (gyros, roasted corn and Mozzarepas, natch). But unlike most other street fairs, there is a strong neighborhood presence in both food (including freebees from the new kid on the block Trader Joe’s) and vendors,......

Yesterday, Gothamist attended the 33rd annual Atlantic Antic along Atlantic Avenue between Hicks Street and Fourth Avenue. It is not your typical New York street fair with actual local groups, business and restaurants getting involved. Plus the New York Transit Museum had free admission as well as its annual vintage bus festival. Although it did have some of the street fair food staples like Mozzarepas and roasted corn, we weren’t able to find tables......

There are many fun events today, like Ecofest at Lincoln Center and Atlantic Antic in Brooklyn, but for those interested in our fine feathered friends, we recommend you head to Central Park to check out the Parks Department's Falconry Extravaganza with the Urban Park Rangers. The Urban Parks Rangers are bringing a number of falcon species, such as the Saw-whet Owl, Screech Owl, Eurasian Kestrel, Peregrine Falcon, Barn Owl, Turkey Vulture, Harris Hawk, and Adrian......

REMINDER: Don't forget about the Atlantic Antic Festival, which we wrote all about yesterday. EVENT: The d.u.m.b.o arts center (dac) presents the 11th Annual Art Under the Bridge Festival. The three-day fête takes up 30 blocks bringing together over 1500 visual artists, 250 open studios and offices, and an expected 20,000 attendees. Given much of the music biz in this city has offices in that area, they'll be taking part as well. The Deli Magazine......

On tap for this year’s 33rd Annual Atlantic Antic festival, taking this Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM (rain or shine, buddy) is the usual bonanza of pony rides, live music, and balloon animals. This year’s Antic has an added emphasis on food, which should hopefully make it a remedy to all the street fair food fatigue that’s been going around recently. For starters, decent street food will be offered in overwhelming abundance-......

Tonight's the Harvest Moon! The full moon nearest the fall equinox is known as a harvest moon because the moon provided extra light for harvesting crops. For most of the year moon rise occurs about 50 minutes later each day. Because of the earth's orbital geometry, around the equinoxes the moon rises only about 30 minutes later from day to day. Since a full moon rises at the same time as the sun sets, the......

Feast of San Gennaro. Manhattan’s Little Italy may be constantly shifting borders and shrinking, but this event seems to get bigger every year. Plunk down $3 for a big plastic cup of Italian bianco with peaches. When you’re done sipping, you can fish out the large hunks of wine-steeped fruit with your straw. It’s worth waiting on the long lines for kettle-fried zeppolis that come by the half or full dozen, shook up in a......

Gothamist doesn't miss the tired, Yuppie whining and complaining which spewed from Michael, Hope, Elliot and company in the 1980's TV hit "thirtysomething." But, we do recognize the importance of that landmark time in life. 30 is an acheivement. You've made it past that first NYC apartment - the nasty fifth floor walk-up, the size of a closet, which you actually shared with a roommate. You've finally eaten at a restaurant other than Dojo and......

Gothamist can hear the longing strains of Carly Simon, as we anticipate the festivities to come this Sunday, September 26th at the 30th annual Atlantic Antic. Brooklyn's grand-daddy of street fairs, from 10am - 6pm, the Antic will take over a 1.5 mile stretch of Atlantic Avenue between Hicks Street and Fourth Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn, offering visitors a melting pot of feasting options, trinkets galore, live music, live dancing, and even a bevy of......
