The NBA Draft Lottery will be held tonight at 8 PM, just before tip off of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Orlando Magic have the best chance, at 25%, to win the overall top pick in this summer's draft due to their league worst 21 - 61 record. 1993 was the last time the Magic landed the top pick and they selected Chris Webber, who was later traded to the Golden State Warriors for Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway, now a Knick.

Unlike last year's draft, which had high schooler LeBron James as the top prize, this year's draft seems to be short on impact players and long on potential. When the draft finally comes around at the end of June, expect to hear the word "upside" at least 70 times. Perhaps Gothamist will keep a count. UConn junior Emeka Okafor, fresh off a national title, figures to be the top selection this year.

A look at the past also reveals that a lottery selection is no guarantee of a brighter future. Some of the lumniaries that have been selected in the Lottery since 1985 include Jerome Moiso, Trajan Langdon, Aleksandar Radojevic, Samaki Walker, Todd Fuller, Shawn Respert, Ed O'Bannon, Sharone Wright, Adam Keefe, Pervis Ellison, Mark Macon, Rumeal Robinson, Randy White and Chris Washburn.

The NBA Draft will be held Thursday, June 24, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. Stay tuned to Gothamist for in depth coverage leading up to the big event.
