Tibet House Benefit, Antony at BAM

2007_02_arts_sigurros.jpgOne of the first Carnegie Hall shows we went to, years ago, was the Tibet House Benefit. The President of Tibet House is none other then Uma's dad, Robert A.F. Thurman. The annual show he has help put on is now in its 17th year, and this time around will take place on February 26th. The lineup has been confirmed (why the press release is giving Ben Harper top billing is beyond us) and some of the artists include: Laurie Anderson, Ray Davies, Philip Glass, Deborah Harry, Lou Reed, Sigur Ros (pictured), Patti Smith, Michael Stipe.

More information can be found here. Concert tickets (ranging from $35 to $108) on sale now through Carnegie Hall only (call 212.247.7800 or visit the box office at 57th Street and Seventh Avenue). Benefit tickets including concert and post-concert party are also available.

Antony and the Johnsons played last years benefit. This March they'll be at BAM for a Brooklyn Philharmonic show with conductor Michael Christie:

"As the brainchild behind the BP Presents series, Michael Christie has again demonstrated what amazing things can happen when a 32 year-old combines his classical roots with his diverse and current taste. Upon first becoming a fan of Antony and The Johnsons, Christie envisioned a combination of Antony’s powerfully poetic music with the beautiful sounds of an orchestra."

As of yesterday we were told tickets were 75% sold out, so get 'em while you can! They're available for purchase here, and the show is on March 9th.
