Anna Nicole Smith, 1967-2007
Just after her son died, and just after her new baby girl was born, it has been announced that Anna Nicole Smith has now died at age 39. She had been at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino, where she collapsed in a room. The police say there was no child in the room, but there was a personal nurse with her. Her bodyguard had performed CPR; apparently a paramedic said Smith was dead when he got to the room. Smith was pronounced dead at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida; an autopsy will be performed tomorrow.
Sure, she led a bizarre life: From stripper to billionaire's wife (and Playboy playmate and Guess? Jeans model in between), she had a wild reality show and became a spokeswoman for Trim-Spa. She was on diet pills, and who knows what else, that could have attributed to her death...but Smith also had a brand new husband partner, her lawyer Howard K. Stern. Seems a bit odd that her and her son would both die within months of each other, and you know, there's a lot of money at stake. The early guesses are saying it was likely a heart problem.
Anna Nicole certainly had a life blanketed with trauma and lawsuits, especially recently. Larry King is on CNN discussing it with Wolf Blitzer right now, saying he'll be dedicating his hour to her tonight - where, as the story unfolds, there will likely be more information on how this happened. This whole week, Entertainment Tonight had segments planned about her - so now they have her "last interview before her death."

Update: Hugh Hefner said, ""I am very saddened to learn about Anna Nicole's passing. She was a dear friend who meant a great deal to the Playboy family and to me personally. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and loved ones during this difficult time." People has a look back at her life. TMZ reports that the DNA issue over her baby daughter Danielynn's paternity will still be discussed tomorrow at a court hearing.

Anna Nicole is known for having an addiction to painkillers (as shown in her series on E!) and I would be very, very surprised if this wasn't a drug-related death. It's a shame because I was kinda hoping she would be a 1973-1977 Elvis-like figure (aka Big Mess) without the overdose.

You know, just because you look at the front page of CNN within the physical boundaries of New York City does not mean this story has anything to do with New York. If I cared at all about this story I would be reading it on a site about news or gossip. I come to Gothamist.com for neither.

Even the Daily Show can't do justice to the parody happening right before our very eyes on CNN. If you open your window and listen closely that sound you hear is the blogosphere exploding.

This is something I never thought I would care about in a million years. But, Anna Nicole Smith had her baby 2 weeks after I had mine, and that fact made me care. I would hate to think of my baby growing up motherless. How sad.

Actually reading what other people have posted some are good and others are terrible. How can anyone make fun of a death? How would you like to be told that your mother is dead or some other sibling? It is now time to grieve and those closest to her have that right,not to be splattered all over internet sites and in articles and magazines. No one knows how she has really died yet, so why not stop with the illconceited judgments I mean come on they are dead now let them be,why keep insulting when someone is gone especially when they aren't here to defend themsevles against you? I think it's sad that you people who write such negative cynical comments especially about a deceased person have some mental problems urself or perhaps you are just jealous that you don't receive the attention or had the lifestyle that they had even if it wås a up and down lifestyle. Typical of the Hollywood life I would say. I think that people now need to be focused on this poor little girl that isn't even a month old that lost her mother and step -bro in a span of 5 months. How is she going to be psychologically effected in the future and even now? Cable "news" is going nuts about this non-story. It is garbage like this that is why I have sworn off the farce that is cable "news" except for its comedy value. With all of the issues she was having in her personal life leads me to one conclusion out of 4 possibles, as follow:
No. 1: just had a baby girl, so no suicide.
No. 2: just had a baby girl, so no overdose (she would've od'd a long time ago if her drug habits are so severe as alluded to in the press).
No. 3: Trim-Spa fucked her heart up (like the Fen-Phen did to people back in the day).
No. 4: was murdered.
I'm for No. 4.
With No. 3 a close second.

You no that is pretty rediculous for people to be leaving comments like the ones that have been left. How can you people stoop so low. People make mistakes in their lives and no one is perfect. Everyone lives there life the way they want to knowing what the outcome could be, but people take that chance because know one thinks it could happen to them. This family is going through enough hard times right now. To have all of you belittle this womans death and to say that her little girl is better off with her mother dead, you are beyond wrong!!! Its funny the way you all sit there and pass judgement on this woman and what kind of parent she was, and wether or not her life was worth mourning or not. I would love to see how well any of you would fare under camera and speculation of the world in your daily life and as parents. Probably not so HOT...So before you sit and cast judgement maybe you should look at yourselves and fix whats wrong with you first. How bad would you feel if later in life her little girl got on here and read what you people are saying about her mom, you would damage her for along time. It really doesn't matter how she died. Pills or no pills. Lots of people do things to harm themselves. People shouldn't speckulate but have more consideration for others like that of Anna Nicole Smith. As for Dannielynn she doesn't really know anything cause shes to young. A human life is gone and everyone should show some type of respect.
My prayers are with her family. She has been thorugh so much in her life and it's a tragidy. So sad that everyone is saying such cruel things. I'm deeply saddned by Anna'a death. She was a great roll model and my hero and I'm deeply going to miss her.
