Music Meets Fashion Week

2007_02_zooey.jpgFashion and music sometimes go hand in hand (for better or worse), and under the tents at Bryant Park, this doesn't change. Two years ago we found ourselves sitting front row at Cynthia Rowley's show, and as the models started to filter out - The Secret Machines "Nowhere Again" blasted in the air. It fit.

Last night, Zooey Deschanel opened Erin Fetherston's runway show, singing "Dream a Little Dream." She then went on to perform "at a wildly original cabaret show for Bono's wife Ali Hewson's organic, fair-trade casual-wear label, Edun." The Citizens Band and Rain Phoenix also performed. Looks like celebs have to work for their free goods now.

Zooey also sang "Baby, It's Cold Outside" in Elf (watch here), and beat out Scarlett Johansson, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan (phew) for the role of Janis Joplin, in biopic The Gospel According to Janis (which starts filming in November).

At right: Zooey Deschanel, Amy Miles and Ronin (of The Citizens Band) performing at the EDUN fall/winter 2007 collection.

And, of course, she was a member of the band Suburban Funk in the classic film The New Guy.
