Prospect Park: Snow Capital of NYC

bk_snow_spatialK.jpgCongratulations go out this morning to Prospect Park. While other locations around the city recorded less than an inch of snow last night, the Prospect Park spotter measured a whopping 2.5 inches. The greatest snowfall so far this winter!

You know it's been a snowless winter when the headline in the Staten Island Advance says "New Bus Owner Rescues Riders from the Snow". The story is about a switchover in companies running the bus route over the Bayonne Bridge. Riders were not left stranded in the one inch of snow!

There should be no snow worries for the rest of the day. The coastal storm that just brushed us last night is approaching Newfoundland this morning. A bigger concern today is the cold and wind. Today looks to be the coldest day of the week, with a high around 30. Gusty winds will produce a windchill in the teens.

For the rest of the week temperatures should remain at, or just below, normal. That means highs will be in the mid- to upper-30s, with lows in the mid-20s. We may see a few flurries tomorrow afternoon and evening, but they shouldn't amount to much if they do occur.
