On the Plate: Upcoming Food and Wine Events

2006_12_food_pyramid.jpgDecember 14th: Barcade's Winter Beer Night
If you want holiday brews, Barcade's got it. They've got well over a dozen seasonal beers on tap, including HeBrew Monumental Jewbelation 2006, Anchor Christmas 2003, and Pyramid Snow Cap. 6pm, 388 Union Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-388-4347.

December 14: What to Drink with What You Eat at Pour
Join Karen Page and Andrew Dornenberg, authors of What to Drink with What You Eat, as they discuss pairing cocktails, wine, and more with food. Pour, which just opened recently, follows their lead by focusing on hard-to-find spirits and cocktails created by resident expert Jerri Banks as well as on wines, which are organized by flavor profile to simplify food matching. 6:30 - 8:00 pm 321 Amsterdam Avenue, free.

December 19: Festive Food and Wine for the Holidays
Join Chef Nils Norén, the head of The FCI's Culinary Arts program (and former executive chef of Aquavit) as he shows you how to prepare dishes for a lavish holiday party. While you're at it, you can pair his samples with wine selected by wine expert Anthony Trincanello. $50 (plus a $2.50 service fee per registrant). 6:15, the International Culinary Theater at The French Culinary Institute, 462 Broadway at Grand Street. Reservations and more information available online.
