Hillary For 2008 Democratic Convention in NYC

2006_11_d92.jpgNow that Democrats have had a victorious 2006 election year, attention is turning to the 2008 Democratic National Convention. New York and Denver are the two remaining cities left in the running, and the Daily News reports Senator Hillary Clinton wants the convention back in NYC. Her advisers say her support has nothing to do with the possibility that she may run, but let's face it, New York is where Bubba was nominated back in 1992.

The dilemma Democrats face is whether to take the convention back to the heartland or to the city, where most want it anyway. Howard Dean, who grew up in NYC, will be making the choice next month.

such a stupid idea. republicans will be in a swing state, minnesota, so why would dems choose a solid blue state for their convention?

Agreed--The democrats have to be about expanding "the tent." Looking to a mountain west city like Denver would be a much better choice. The bigger growth opportunities for expanding the democratic party base are in the west so they need to connect with those people. You're preaching to the converted in nyc and you're reinforcing the stereotype that the democratic party are a bunch of urban elitists.

It makes you wonder about Hillary's political instincts for national campaigning to make such a myopic and short sighted choice as nyc for the convention.
