Project Runway at Fashion Week!

2006_09_projectrunwayfw.jpg

Ahhhh! It's Olympus Fashion Week and today, the designers from Project Runway showed their collections! Now, as we all know, all four designers from the Final Four - Jeffrey, Laura, Michael and Uli - get to present at Fashion Week, but one of the shows is a decoy, in order for people not to know who the true Final Three are. (Last year, Kara Janx presented at Fashion Week, though Daniel V., Chloe and Santino were the only ones really competing.)

So, like the lunatic Gothamist tends to be about things, we've been studying photographs on Getty Images and reading posts on Blogging Project Runway. The biggest observation is that Uli's Project Runway model is Nazri - while Clarissa (who modeled mostly for Angela) walked for Michael. There are two hypotheses: (1) Uli wins the next challenge and chooses Nazri; when Michael chooses a model, he picks Clarissa; or (2) Michael is eliminated (NOOOO!).

Here are links and thoughts on the four designers' collections; Blogging Project Runway has some of the designers' remarks:
- Uli - Lots of the "Uli-style" dresses, but they are all very nice (one could say that Chloe's collection last year was full of Chloe dresses)
- Laura - Again, lots of "Laura-style" dresses, but the one that Camilla is wearing is incredible
- Michael - It's super sexy (much like his portfolio), very Gucci-inspired (bathing suits and all!)
- Jeffrey - It's very colorful and reminds us a little of Marc by Marc Jacobs kind of clothing

We can't believe we have to wait weeks for the finale on October 18.

I had no idea there was a decoy show. Now I'm going to stay awake nights thinking about this. I'm such a nerd, but I love this show, I can't help it. Thanks

jesus f**king christ, who gives a sh*t. tell us who is picking their nose in Williamsburg please.

michael is totally the decoy. or maybe not. but as much as i love him, he totally won't win.

Uli is Uli. Michael surprised me. His clothes look very 90s Gucci/Versace, arguably as Miami/St. Tropez/etc.-centric as Uli's. Laura's clothes were also typical ladylike Laura, safe but wearable and classic. Reminded me of Oscar de la Renta. Jeffrey's the only one who surprised me positively with his lighter, cuter clothes. My bet's on Laura or Jeffrey.

Just because there was a decoy show in previous years... doesn't mean there is going to be one this year... ;)

Um. How about a f*cking spoiler alert? Did I miss that somewhere for those who still think Laura, Uli, Jeffrey, and Michael are in the running based on the last episode?

Last year 2 finalists were from FIT? Any this year? Hear cosmogirl isdoing their own project "hallway" online series about FIT students. Premieres tuesday of next week on their site? Any news on that?

It's speculation, Meghan. Calm down.

I think what's more conspicuous than Uli having Nazri as her model is the fact that only Laura's collection does not have a bathing suit in it... could it be this was the twist to the final 3 challenge? - that would mean Laura's collection is the decoy.

I think they are doing another model picking thing. Laura won last challenge, so she gets to pick first. Then names are drawn out of a bag. Uli must have gotten to pick before Michael, so she chose Nazri. I don't think they change models after they get to the final three. They just leave to work on their collection and then come back to reunite with their models.

I also noticed that laura's collection did not have a bathing suit. I love Laura and I hope she is in the final 3 despite this!

I saw the show in person and Michael's collection looked like really cheap Baby Phat or Strawberry's goes couture. Fabric choice was just awful. Sad, because he was my favorite going in. Jeffrey really surprised me—bright, youthful, fun. It looked a million times better in person than it does in the photos. But if a bathing suit was the extra twist, why did Michael have two?

I think after viewing all of the collections that there is a pretty good chance that Michael got eliminated last round. He has been and still is the top designer on that show for this whole season. He seemed a little out of sorts in the showing as far as his designs and I didn't see anthing that I would wear either. Now the other possibility is that losing his model really took something out of him. THEY R a dynamic duo. His whole design thing changed once he got Nazri as his model. This is a very unfortunate showing for him if he is still in it, but he will be fine. JEFFREY clearly had the best showing to me and I HATE him. LOL

No decoy show, all four get to present!

HI I was just wondering how you got so beautiful?

I think it'll be between Michael and Laura- their lines are the most put together and fluid.
I think the woman in between Daniel V. and Nina is Chloe!
