Video of the Day: Law & Order Special Letters Unit on Sesame Street

The big season premiere for today might be Weeds for adults, but for kids - and their parents - it was surely this morning's Sesame Street season premiere. And we've been eagerly awaiting it, as it had the "Law Order: Special Letters Unit" segment! We bring you the clip via YouTube, and boy, is it great. Not only is there a funny looking duck puppet, the characters totally refer to the Law & Order noise as "Chung Chung."

What was interesting is that the Captain called the Stabler muppet "Meloni," but called the Munch muppet "Munch - probably wanted to stick to "M" names (the Benson muppet would surely be "Mariska). And as to why Ice-T Detective Tutuola isn't included, we would like to guess that it's because he has no "M's" in his name (though his real name is Tracy Marrow) versus being an old school gangsta rapper.

Very cool...chung-chung!

This is totally awesome!!!

Ha! Sweet deed on the green muppet. That's deadringer for that detective guy.
Stabler just looks like a Guy Smiley with a black wig, and that looks nothing like Olivia.
Still, fun.

Is it just me or does the 'Mariska' muppet seem to be channeling a young Penny Marshall? Still totally adorable though.

Yeah, the Mariska muppet is sort of off (but the leather jacket is a nice touch), Dann Florek should be upset about the Captain muppet and the Meloni muppet just glowers. I remember Christopher Meloni telling Conan O'Brien that they didn't do the voices, and I was suddently so disappointed.

But the Munch muppet rules.

Munch Muppet kicks arse! This is what Sesame Street should be doing more of, not that retarded Journey to Ernie nonsense.

And I'm incapable of understanding why Boohbah gets airtime, when they could be airing a perfectly good documentary on toejam...

Gather round, gather round, we've got a missing letter and it looks like . . . uhh, I can't tell from this shot because it's covered in blood and white powder!

Mooooo!! This is a duck, not just any duck!

Friggin' brilliant!

Merloni, Mariska, Dann Florek and the Belz immortalized forever in foam rubber.

I want a puppet channel..puppet news..puppet shows..puppet late night..

Zincink ... You want a "puppet channel"? You have one ... Fox News, of course.

That totally rocked! They should of had an Ice T puppet though.

That was absolutely wonderful! I have heard that the actual actors from SVU want to get in on it, so can you imagine how genuine this would be? I loved it!

Racists!! Where's Ice T?
