Bob Dylan's New York City

2006_3_1_bobdylan1.jpg

David Galbraith put together a fun wist of Bob Dylan's various Big Apple haunts. So far he has thirteen locations-- including Dylan's various crappy apartments, grand townhouses, and performance spots. Related: here's another Dylan map.

I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs,
There was music in the cafes at night
And revolution in the air.

I know we're located above 14th St., but we're a Bob Dylan haunt too.

Now the bricks lay on Grand Street
Where the neon madmen climb

what a funny wittle wist.

Very, very cool! This ought to settle the "battle" once and for all of where the Freewheelin' cover was shot.

Now is it true that Gerde's is now that ugly building across from the old Bottom Line and the Dojo (formerly Swensons) Restaurant?

And does anyone know if the Montague Street in Tangled Up in Blue is really the one in BH? It doesn't seem to fit somehow.

It's "cool" to like Bob Dylan, especially if you were born long, long, long after his heyday.

I dearly appreciate the compliment, times, but unfortunately I'm not as young as I sound. And old guys know how to work a computer, too.

Sorry Tim, I meant an editorial "you" not you in particular (we all know you're an old geezer, man!)

You're right Times, we should only listen to music created after we were born.

yea fuck history! fuck the past! no one should appreciate anything that has ever come before them. in fact, that song you liked an hour ago? fuck it! five minutes ago? fuck it!

Ha! Touche...

There is a Montegut Street in New Orleans.
