I really wonder about people who would trust their animal to a vet who has no office. Just that should tell you something is not kosher with the guy.

#8,9,10 If you guys read the articles carefully you'd know that: 1) Burt already has an owner, who was the one suspicious of the fake vet and got this sting operation rolling. 2) DA Moran owns Fred.

I know what you mean by going back to the city's shelter aka animal care and control. I adopted my pets from the ASPCA and North shore animal league. Other's have had good experience with bide a wee. But, Fred is a handsome devil.

Anon, It appears you're so eager to jump on the story that you neglected to read anything in the links. You can't make blanket statements like "virtually always a misdemeanor." In this case, Vassall "is also charged with Unauthorized Use of a Professional Title and Unauthorized Practice, both Class-E Felonies. He faces up to four years in prison." Although he'll probably plea bargain.

I think this is a great case the DA is bringing but this deputized cat stuff is so dumb and feeds right into the problem with these cases - no one takes them seriously. Animal crultey is serious despite the fact that virtually no one gets any significant jail time and is virtually always a misdemanor even in cases of horrible abuse-neglect. Yet instead of just bringing the case the DA trys to get media attention with some stupidity about deputizing a cat (which of course for those of you gullible people - isnt true) and making the whole thing a cutsie puff piece, instead of a serious criminal matter
