Tsunami Relief

The tragedy that has swept across the Indian Ocean from Somalia to Sri Lanka to Thailand has prompted many people to ask Gothamist what they can do to help victims of this horrible natural disaster.
The best and most immediate thing you can do is donate money to one of the many service organizations that are currently working to provide medicine, clean water, shelter and other forms of support to victims. While many groups and governments have pledged their support, more money will be needed as the tsunamis' true toll is counted.
Here's a very short list of organizations that are accepting donations to help with the relief effort:
The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
UNICEF.
Doctors Without Borders.
A more comprehensive list can be found on this page at CNN.com. Your money will be put to work immediately.
Ask Gothamist wishes it went without saying, but if you choose to give to smaller, lesser-known groups, please do your homework before donating.

I think I may have posted a comment about this yesterday -- if so apologies for the repeat -- but one organization not mentioned which is actively coordinating relief efforts for the tsunami tragedy is American Jewish World Service, an international development and relief organization with a four-star Charity Navigator rating and existing partnerships with 24 non-governmental, community-based organizations in the region.
I came across some additional resources that I think readers here would find helpful. Take a look here
Command Post has an extensive list here:

with addresses, websites, and so on.
a blog has been setup for "news and information about resources, aid, donations and volunteer efforts".
they have referrals to many organizations directly involved in the relief effort:

I am shocked by what has happened!!
