Yeeesss! - Chappelle Show Is Back For Two More Seasons

2004_08_chappelle.jpg

It's all about the small pleasures in life, and Gothamist is happy to hear that Chappelle Show is renewed through 2006, which means two more 13 episode seasons. The 13 episodes include 10 original episodes, two "Best Of" episodes and one musical special per year, which isn't that different from what's happening now, but the new deal is worth $50 million because of DVD and syndication related money, according to the Hollywood Reporter (the same article notes that Chappelle Show helped Comedy Central this season). The new season of Chappelle Show will air early next year, but in the mean time, enjoy the reruns on Comedy Central or Chappelle Show Season 1 on DVD.

The Chappelle Show at Comedy Central has a new sound board where you can mix beats and sound clips: Example, Tron saying "banana" over a Latin mix or the Player Haters saying "reach for the sky" over hip-hop. And, of course, there are Rick James clips. Which brings us to Maddox's hilarious analysis of people who have co-opted "I'm Rick James, bitch!"

And, speaking of small pleasures, Gothamist has to thank Stereogum for the link to the Built to Spill cover of The Strokes' Someday. Again, the little things!

Yeaaaahh Bitch!

All we need now is To bring back 'Family Guy'

Just bought Season I on dvd yesterday... hella excited. I do so loves me some Chappelle.

Skeet Skeet.

fyi, the family guy is coming back. i can't remember the exact details, but it's coming.

I believe the cartoon network signed on for several episodes of Family Guy, but you can catch reruns on Adult Swim.

Thanks for the Built to Spill link! Can it be a coincidence that the monkey man below bears something of a resemeblance to BTS frontman / genius Doug Martsch?

i meant that family guy is coming back to fox. as in new episodes. i found the times article from my archives. there was another article specifically on the show, but i don't have that.

Fox is too busy making god-awful programming (e.g., The Littlest Groom) to sink any money into the good stuff.

My favorite Family Guy line (and I'd like to see the parrots quote this one) is from Peter to Lois: "Just don't forget our deal, Lois. I sit through this and later tonight I get anal. You hear me? No matter how neat I want the house you have to clean it."

That might be a little too racy for network TV.

Am I the only one who finds it irritating when people link to thier blogs with an article on the same subject (usually summing up exactly what Gothamist just said in fewer words)? Or is doing such perfectly acceptable? It just seems tacky to me.

It annoys me too, I always skim past them.

I cannot for the life of me understand Dave Chappelle's appeal - his show is very sloppy, and just not very funny. He's not as funny as Chris Rock, or Ali G, or Bernie Mac!

As a black person, I can only attribute his popularity to a sort of bizarro affirmative action....

wow - I thought I was the only person who thought the show was overrated. Mind you, I've seen some of the funniest skits ever on that show, but I'd say about half of it falls flat. Seems to me that he's getting $50 million to say "bitch" a lot.

Does anyone know when season 2 of Dave Chappelle comes out?

Whats is the name of the song Wycleff plays in his on stage performance on the Chappelle show?

Talking about...if I were president...i be elected on friday..If i were president...?
