Panda Porn Prompts Pregnancy?
It looks like pandas can learn things by watching TV: Hua Mei, the panda who was born in San Diego but shipped back to China, as per the panda agreement with China, is pregnant! The big news is that the panda sex ed. videos she had to watch probably helped her into the mood. The panda-ologists at the Wolong Panda Reserve were worried that living in captivity would mean her sex knowledge was lacking, so they showered her videos of mating pandas before letting Hua Mei go at it. (Gothamist suspects that the Chinese scientists were really suspicious of a Chinese-American panda, filled with those "lazy American" stereotypes.) Hua Mei is due in September, and Gothamist hopes everything else goes well - we'll certainly drink to a healthy baby's arrival with the official Hua Mei shot glass from the San Diego Zoo.
