Nicole Richie is a very beautiful woman! Who cares what color she is/seems to be to everyone? As said above, people are a wide mix of genetics. There are some people who are black that do look "white", or whatever...but who cares? What is this world so concerned about color for? Every color is beautiful! I wish people would just use the word "person" or people instead of black, white, green, whatever...

the real reason why everyone is so hung up on her skin color is because of prejudice and racism. the "simple life" show is obviously geared to rednecks who want to see hot socialites live in a down-on-the-farm enviroment like the ones they live on. when these pigs were out at a clan meeting one of them found out that nicole's dad was lionel richie(a black man), and this led to the ruinig of a thousand white men's wet dreams and the creation of this website. the fact of the matter is that white people do not like black people and even the slightest inclination that someone is black makes them nervous. that is why black people are classified (by white people) as being 1/16 black. no one else is classified by being 1/16 white or asian, or arabic,or hispanic. race still plays too much of a giant role in our society, and it needs to stop because all life originated in the same area so we are all the same. However it was not black or white, it was BROWN.

Nicole is indeed adopted and there was a huge scandal at the time. Her real father is Peter Escovedo who currently stars on the Wayne Brady Show as Wayne's musical director. Nicole is Puerto Rican.

If you are serious, I guess it's only fair to say that beauty is and remains in the eye of the beholder. Some think straight hair is gorgeous, another long curly hair or short kinky pincurls. I think it is terrible that everyone is questioning this girl. Even if she is adopted, it show the love she has for her dad to say she's black. If anyone recalls, Shania Twain did the same thing. Nicole may or may not be black, but either way she seems proud of that heritage, be it in her blood or not. I think that's beautiful. SazyFrazy, I'm sorry you grew up the way you did. Come on people it is possible to be her color and still be black. It is called genetics and it does happen in the real world. I have seen it and have people in my family with blonde hair and green eyes and they look white but they are black. At any rate it does not matter at all if she is black or not.

Okay, some of you people need to get past your racism. As if they're no pretty women that are BLACK and not mixed. Stop using Halle Berry and Alicia Keys as examples. They do identify with being black, but at the same time they don't hesitate to mention that they're bi-racial. And there are some black people who are fair and have what people wouldn't consider 'black features' but are black biologically.

You idiots keep talking about Nicole's nose. LOOK AT HER NOSE where it flares and Paris' does not. She obviously has broader nostrils. She also has full lips and that could be her real skin tone. A lot of mixed children have a "cream" skin tone to them. And ultimately a lot of black and hispanic (especially) women can get away with looking white if they start with certain features and just alter the rest.

I know a girl who's Dominican, same skin tone as Nicole...she naturally has dark brown very curly hair and in her old photos she did look like a woman of color. But she flat irons her hair now, dyes it blonde and includes skin "brighteners" in her makeup regimen. She now honestly looks like an older version of the Olsen Twins, and guys fall all over her because of that. People guess she's Italian, French, German...never hispanic. It shows how much you know.

For a black person if they do all that and also add other enhancements like color contacts, they can fool a lot of people.

Like others said, learn something about genetics before you go talking. My boyfriend's brother still thinks that every mixed person in the world has to look EXACTLY like a perfect mix of their mom and dad....it's pathetic. I have black, white and Native American blood in my family, and some of us could pass for white with a straightened blonde hair. A lot of them have green/hazel eyes as well. Most (including myself) have some features that are considered "black", but generally light-med skinned and our hair isn't that coarse, so many times people think we're hispanic or middle eastern. And there are those in my family that you would never doubt are black. But we're all related, and genetics comes into play a lot. We have dark parents with fair kids and vice versa.

I know people like Ms. Richie. A girl who's park black and part French who's fair skinned with blonde hair and hazel eyes. She says she's part black and the idiots don't believe her. Also my basketball coach who was white as hell married a dark black woman and had a son who looked just like his WIFE and NOTHING like him. People thought he was adopted too.

If you doubt genetics, let me post this question to you:

When two people of the same race have a kid, and the kid is a "spitting image" of ONE OF THE PARENTS, nobody says anything, but they acknowledge the resemblence.

Now what would the kid look like in a mixed couple if the child is a spitting image of ONE OF THE PARENTS.

Voila! There you go.

Let me add my piece to the "what the hell is she" puzzle.

The moment I saw her i thought, "creepy, what the hell is she". I then did my research. Nicole was adopted when she was 9 years old, and I believe her father is a member of the Commodores. Check her out on Rock Star Daughters on E! and you'll hear the scoop. Anywhoo, this proves once and for all, SHE IS ADOPTED.

Now for what she's doing, in all honesty I do believe the poor child is "trying to pass" broken down, she'll let people believe she's white. But in the end most black people, like myself, can tell she's got at least a drop in her. For one her knees are black, I saw her in a skirt. Secondly, her hair is a DAMN MESS, weave all fuct up, you can see her real hair underneath the blonde tracks on top of her hair and that hair beneath has a coarser texture. Her face is also a little more rounded than most white people's (not saying white people don't have round faces, but look at Paris and then look at her). Finally her nostrils do flare. All in all she is someone most black people would look twice at to try and guess what she's made of, cause most of us know something else is there.

And do remember, genetics are key here, black people do come in all shapes and shades from milky white and butter yellow to the darkest chocolate goodness. Everyone should embrace the skin they're in, and if they don't want to do that, at least get a convincing weave.
