The Simple Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
Variety breaks its review of the Paris Hilton-Nicole Richie reality show, The Simple Life, which has been getting positive critical buzz:
It also helps enormously that Hilton and Richie (the "notorious" daughter, per the intro, of Lionel Richie) provide their own hilarious dialogue, saying things like "What does 'generic' mean?" and pondering what happens at Wal-Mart. In the don't-know-much-about dept., the pair give fellow reality pinatas Jessica Simpson and Anna Nicole Smith a run for their money...
[Farm owner] Albert's rules present a special hardship to potty-mouthed Nicole, while Hilton's wardrobe appears to run afoul not only of community mores but Fox standards (who knew?).
At one point, the producers go to the trouble of blurring her butt crack in post-production -- escaping as it is from low-hanging jeans. Though she has never worked a day in her life, this suggests some vocational potential as a refrigerator repairman.
Additionally, reviewer Brian Lowry adds a "critical aside" on the sex tape: "While it's easy to admire the hand-held camerawork under difficult conditions and a modest budget, the night-vision photography is off-putting and obscures too much of the action." That's just what Jonno said on Fleshbot! And Extra ran a segment on the Simple Life yesterday. We can't wait for the show.

I saw Nicole Richie a few weeks ago at an event. Somehow, within a span of 2 minutes, 2 guys had groped her and this was while she was ordering a drink at the bar. I wasn't impressed or excited that I saw her.
I am however looking forward to seeing them makes fools of themselves on TV :)
this is going to be the best new show of the season. (with the caveat that the o.c. technically started in the summer).

Who is Nicole's mother? She looks nothing like her father (and i don't only mean skin colour, also facial features).
Paris and Nichole are really a bunch of high priced baby's. They do look hot I have to admit ! but from what I see that is all they can do. They will eventually slef distruct themselves, though constant drug use, and lack of motivation to do anything for themselves. They Just cant. A small touch of reality would kill them. They are only good as a marketing tool, to sell stuff like cloaths and shoes. I say again that they are hot and that there are alot of people who are making money off who they are. It is sad to see what too much money can do to people. THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE. Anyway the show rocks..... it is so funney to see the extent of their knowlage about (wal-mart) lol. They seem like a buch of high priced clowns. The money cant be bad but they are making fools of themselves. They will probably get huge promtional deals from doing this show. It is kinda sick how people so dumb can make money from being nothing but stupid. This is not jeolusy.... just a big joke that makes other people money.

I watched the show to see if these girls, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, had a clue as to how to work. And they have FAILED...miserably. They had better NOT ever get into such financial difficulty as to the'll be forced to find jobs, because they will never make it. I felt embarrassed for the family.However, I am not surprised to see that Nicole is causing some confusion here as to what her racial heritage is. Her father, one of my all time favorites, Lionel Richie, is a very light-skinned African American man and her mother is white, making Brenda Richie her one time step mom. I do hope that Nicole and Paris gained some valuable experiences with this show.

First of all I'd like to say I dont know why people make such a big deal about Paris Hilto and why they would wanna watch her in a sex video. She has no ass and she's skinny as hell. Dint they show a shot of the whole family together, in the beginning of the show? I dint get to see the mother that well, but it looked like Lionels 2nd wife. My cousin and I are biracial. Our dads are white. And sorry to say but about 90% of the time u can tell as to wether someone is biracial or not. She does look it, but all the same i have read an article where they do say that she is adopted. They say she says that shes black because her adoptive parents are. EITHER WAY IT DOESNT REALLY MATTER SHES BEAUTIFUL!
Yes Nicole Richie is adopted but both her biological parents are black. They are in the music biz as well.

Paris is by far the more attractive one of the two of them. She may have a stick figure like body, but overall she is much sexier than Nicole.
both nicoles biological parents are not black. her dad is sheila E's brother and incase you people dont know sheila and ner brother are half black and half spanish. therefore nicole aint 100% black.
I just caught the "Simple Life" marathon tht aired tonight....I absolutely LOVE these two young ladies!! It is so funny to watch how the townspeople are shocked at everything they do. Where have these hicks been?? Nicole Richie, black or white or mixed, has got it going on, and even more so because in America people are intrigued by things they can't figure out, in her case her ethnic origins. Like that new action star, Van Diesel, she probably realizes that her short and vague statements keep all of us guessing, and so the hype just builds on itself. I think she's beautiful, first and foremost, but it's not like a Halle Berry where you are sure that she'd have the same appeal with short hair and little makeup. Nicole's beauty is based more on Americanization, i.e. what admittedly we have come to accept here as the standard. I am an African American. I have enjoyed all of your comments on this topic. I am thinking about doing my next screenplay on a similar topic.

Hi...ok after reading so many comments about Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton, I've only felt compelled somehow to post a comment towards your "enriching" article. I feel I have to strongy disagree with you about Nicole for several reasons. First of all, consider this..did Nicole have to go to hicksville and stay in a little cramp bedroom and share a bathroom with 7 strangers?? NO! How many snobs and people of the upper class dare to experiance the same thing as Nicole and Paris?? You might argue that they did it just for fame/publicity/money/etc but do they really need any that? Ok maybe Nicole isn't as wealthy and in the spotlight as Paris but she still didn't have to become involved in this project under any terms. If Nicole and Paris were truly snobs, they would disregard everyone and everything around them, stick their noses in the air, appear extremely fake, and even try to conceal their spoiled tendancies because god forbid real snobs would never show their flaws to the world. That is the true meaning of snob b/c guess what honey, after being surrounded by snobs my whole life I know the TRUE meaning of a snob. Snobs are BORING, STUCK UP, MEAN, AND SELFISH. I'm sorry but I don't think this applies to Nicole and Paris at all. They were able to make the show exciting, worked each situation to its entertainment potential, been involed, and most of all have a great sense of humour which I'm sorry to say most people in this world lack including you. It may not be an educating enriching experiance but this show isn't targeted for rocket scientists. Nicole and Paris are both sensibily smart girls, they know their image is an important part of their appeal and potential careers so they have to play up for it. They cant act like somebody who spends their fingers glued to the keyboard writing bitchy articles about celebrities (if I need to fill you in, I'm referring to you). Even so, they don't have jealousy or meaness as part of their character. With all the money they have they can dress waspy or in chanel suits and appear to have big sticks up their ass as most snobs do, but instead they know they're fun, young, cute enough to wear whatever that makes them happy. Anyone can buy class, but nobody can buy a sense of humour which I think is one of the rarest assests to have. You can aquire intelligence through reading and studying, a good body through working out, beauty through plastic surgery (which neither both have done) but having a sense of humour is something which must come naturally and through the way one chooses to percieve their external environment. You can be a stuck up bitch with a tree up your ass or you can enjoy what the world has to offer such as experiancing a new lifestyle while having the ability to have fun such as Nicole and Paris were able to. They are not niave girls, they know the world is a bitch filled with bitchy people but they have fun anyway. I'm sorry but I dont think that YOU would have been able to make the quilting scene as exciting as Nicole was able to. People would probably change the channel in like 2 seconds after seeing your face and attitude. Nicole is an amazing spirit, very charming, lots of fun, and its unfortunate that there are so many beady eyes after her. God bless her soul and her ability to make people laugh which is what the world needs. OH and lastly I'm so sick of you "I'm so educated and better than everyone else" type egos all over the web. Get the fuck over yourselves. If you were so educated why are you wasting your time writing shit about people that you consider to be low. Why waste your time? I think entertainment comes in many ways, & this happened to be two entertainers that my family enjoyed watching.
