Kate Moss as Muse

Fine, New York Times and W magazine, Gothamist surrenders: Kate Moss transcends fashion and she's some sort of other icon. That combination of sour supermodel personality, past A-list celebrity relationship, and questionable friendships do make Kate Moss more famous than just clothes hanger. So the face and body that launched at least a thousand eating disorders is deified via a 40-page spread in W magazine where seventeen artists and photographers had to reimagine the new mommy in their own ways. Contributors included Chuck Close, Richard Prince, Tom Sachs, Takashi Murakami, Craig McDean, Bruce Weber and Mario Sorrenti (Moss' ex who helped launch her as heroin chic model du jour). The slide show on the Times article is cool, with some of the photographs. Gothamist especially likes the Chuck Close and this Takashi Murakami rendering. To be Murakami'd - now that's fame.

ok, aside from her bra size, there's still something very wrong about a "superflat kate."
Yeah. She freaks me out, especially her consorting with Sadie Frost. Like that friendship must be really messed up and because it's so messed up, it must be really strong.
NYT article comes to the inane conclusion that Kate Moss is the medium, like oil paint or film, but the writer neglects to examine the complex commercial interests behind Kate the supermodel.
Who's the agent/publicist who convinced W and these artists to use her? Is this her brand relaunch, post-baby? How much was she paid? What other products does she already endorse?
And on a seperate note, why try to reinvent the cheesy girl squirting mustard a la Jenny McCarthy Rolling Stone cover?
I love Kate Moss.
ha ha, some of these comments are v.funny. But I am a Kate Moss fan...I love her too Sam!!
Kate Moss is very unique. She has a unique look to her...She's awesome.
When the heck is W Magazine out?
nice one. but i reckon kate should look much better than this.
Kate is great. She is the most versatile model and woman and she was perfect for this months W photo spread...they couldn't have picked a more perfect face.
Jen and HY you both talk shit.
KATE MOSS is all over the place, she looks good on the cover of ANIMAL NEW YORK MAGAZINE with a lighter by DSENSE
kate moss is an icon for today's society - she's a single great looking (and apart from being a bit stuck up - considering she was raised and born in croyden...well)...all good for her. it shows that people can make it from where ever they are.- shame she doesn't remember that
Chuck close is one of the craziest and most motivated artists that exist. Kate moss should feel honoured. She will no doubt be remembered as a famous face, but i think there is more value in creating one. Kate is amazing through the lens of a camera, inspiring to look at - mostly her eyes - but onen can only assume the perspective that lies behind them. Chuck did an amazing job of revealing a new kate moss when most may have thought there was nothing left untapped.
