Bronx Jewelry Store Robber Pays With His Life

2007_05_bxrob.jpgOuch, karma: A man who had apparently just robbed a jewelry store in the Melrose section of the Bronx was struck and killed by a city bus. The suspect tried to flee on a bike, but a BX2 bus hit him a block from the store. Witnesses told WABC 7 that the suspect was "too busy looking at the people chasing him to realize he was pedalling right into the path of an oncoming bus."

An employee at Dreams Jewelry, Sagrario Jimenez, told the Daily News that she was showing the man a 14-karat gold necklace with a cross that was worth $2,000. "He looked a little strange, not normal. He just took his hand and grabbed it so fast and was gone. Then someone came in and told me that a bus hit him."

The bus driver was treated for minor injuries as were five other passengers because the bus stopped short trying to avoid the biker. And the owner of the shop says that the police didn't find the cross.

A 14K necklace worth $2,000? Now who is robbing whom?

robber's family will now likely sue the city.

I guess you can say he "caught the bus" and he's feeling a "bit down". *snicker*

good guys: 1, dumbass robbers: 0

Damn, Karma's a Bus...

I guess you can say he got bus-ted.

The image really did flash though my head of Jason Lee playing this guy. "My name is Earl..." WHOMP! That's gonna leave a mark.

BUS-ted... :D

I can just picture Nelson Muntz standing on the sidewalk pointing at what's left of the bank robber and saying "HA HA!"

here's what will happen:

repeat offiender's family will sue the city for millions.
