McGreevey Divorce Gets Contentious––and More Public

theconfession.jpgThe mud is being flung in the McGreevey divorce, a separation precipitated by the former NJ Governor's announcement that he is "a gay American." Jim McGreevey's estranged wife insists that she is not homophobic, but is trying to protect her daughter by filing court papers describing behavior she feels isn't in the young girl's interest. Dina McGreevey's complaints include an allegation that Jim lets their daughter sleep in the same bed he shares with his current boyfriend, he displays a large life-sized photo of a nude man in his bedroom, and that he isn't paying his fair share of their daughter's educational expenses. The NY Post actually bullet points many of her complaints.

Claimed that Jim took Jacqueline to an out-of-state media event without her knowledge, and "put his daughter's safety and welfare at risk, just as he did [to New Jersey citizens] when he appointed Golan Cipel as homeland security adviser." McGreevey has said he and Cipel were lovers.

That one strikes us as slightly gratuitous in reference. Jim McGreevey responded to the allegations, saying that he had the nude photo, which was art, removed after Dina complained and that he was acting as a good father by allowing his daughter to come to him if she couldn't sleep or got scared in the night, but never let her sleep in his bed.

Dina McGreevey has asked the court to seal their divorce records, citing safety concerns for their daughter. We imagine privacy might also be a concern after reading all about their divorce in the New York Post.

I'm not sure how old his daughter is, but as long as she is still fairly young what's wrong with the allegations against him? It's normal enough for young children to sleep in their parents bed every once in a while (if they are scared, having trouble sleeping, etc.), and I doubt Dina would be so concerned if it was another woman he was partnered with. As for the nude photo, god forbid she see an image of a nude man (which I imagine is composed tastefully). Sounds like Dina is the one being unreasonable. Not homophobic eh? Yeah right.

While it is certainly normal for a child to seek solace from a parent after a nightmare, I think it is highly inappropriate for McGreevey's daughter to share his bed while he is sleeping with another man.

Anything can be called 'art'. A crucifix dipped in urine, a feces splattered picture of the Virgin Mary, and yes, nude men. But, the question is, is it appropriate for a child? Frankly, I don't know any parents that have large nude pictures in a room that children have access to.

For clarity the 'other man' is gay and therefore doesn't like vaginas. I'm pretty sure that includes really young ones too. What kind of threat does he constitute to her?

Kamila, you probably don't know any parents that have nude art in their homes because of the America factor. In other countries like many in Europe, the human body is treated more as a fact of life, and tasteful nudity is something seen commonly. What's the harm? If anything, normalizing the human body is a good thing!

First of all Jim McGreevey is a piece of dirt who used his wife as a beard to further his career. Now he is trying to get her money and daughter from her permanently. He lied to her and to his NJ constituents. Being gay isn't his problem. His problem is being a user, liar, and a sneak.
