April Fool's! When America's Mayor told Barbara Walters that his wife, Judith Nathan, would be attending Cabinet meetings if he's elected President, he was totally joking. Some confusion arose when Giuliani told Walters that Nathan would be welcome at Cabinet meetings if they were discussing something she might find interesting: "If she wanted to. If they were relevant to something that she was interested in. I mean that would be something that I'd be very, very comfortable with".
Giuliani later clarified his remarks:
Judith and I got a good laugh after we heard that she would be a member of the Cabinet, especially after she made it clear in the interview with Barbara Walters that she is not particularly interested in politics or policy. Like most couples, we rely on each other and support each other, but we have different interests. My interest is in politics and deciding policy. Judith is a nurse. Her interest is in educating people on how to stay healthy."
What's funny is that the end of the WABC 7 story, there's a reference to Hillary Clinton's involvement with healthcare during Bill's presidency: "Her policy efforts created some problems for the couple."
And then there's the Bernie Kerik situation. While records show that Giuliani knew about Kerik's dealings with mob-related contractors (they did renovation work at Kerik's home for free), Rudy's been claiming he forgot all about it. But how can you really forget your good friend, the Police Commissioner, might have broken the law?
Separately, the Associated Press ran a story Friday indicating how September 11 could be a double-edged sword for Giuliani, both helping and hurting his reputation. The article quotes a firefighter's mother saying "My son was murdered because of your incompetence!" So you can discard any hopes of a higher tone during the '08 campaign starting now.

I still don't understand how Giuliani is the frontrunner for the Republicans. Then again, I guess that's just a sign of how many problems the Republicans have.
"His mayoral record not counting 9/11 or lowering crime"
Other than that Mrs. Lincoln how was the show?
I wrote the poll answer - Giuliani's mayoral record is mixed. Sure, he brought down crime, but race relations were terrible.
I don't think there is any love lost between minorities and republicans if they pick Rudy. At least he comes into contact with minorities that are not dry cleaners or gardeners. I'm going with his current 50%wife/50%kerik. Divorce isn't going to play well in the flyover states.
Giulani's race relations problems started the second week of his administration when he refused to talk to Sharpton. After the Tawana Brawley fiasco, why should anyone even have given the time of day to Sharpton? The minute that Sharpton found himself outside the corridors of power he started a vicious anti-Giulani campaign.
It's the same with the Democrats and W, when the opposition sees that the executive will not govern as if he were a democrat, they decide to attack and then claim that it is the other guy who will not compromise or build a consensus.
BTW, I have no more sympathy for the useful idiots that instead of realizing that their kin were murdered by fanatical barbarians lash out at the American government. Giulani did not murder anyone. The firemen were murdered by the vicious followers of a satanic ideology.
Yeah, the Democrats have a real problem with W "not governing like a Democrat."
Try "not governing like someone who understands the Consitution and the checks and balances the founding fathers created for a fucking reason" on for size, you dolt.
The problem with W is that he DOES govern like a Democrat. Massive deficit spending, expansion of Executive powers, no respect for civil liberties, and poorly thought out foreign wars. He is on par with Polk, Buchanan, Johnson, Cleveland, Wilson, FDR, Truman, JFK, LBJ, and Carter.
Thing is, people always say that democrats are deficit spenders but its republicans who've gotten the debt into deep water, and democrats who balanced the budget. Try that on for size peeps.
what about his crossdressing? i'm sure that wins you lots of points in the red states
unbelievable
What is that expression on Judith Nathan's face? A smile? A grimace? And why did she get to keep one of the Tiffany candelabras from Gracie Mansion around her neck?
